Hi. I'm Tyler Hurd and I like making fun interactive things that have character and personality and emotions and ridiculousness and stuff in them.
I started my career as an Animator at the award winning video game studio Double Fine Productions where I grew into a Character TD & Tech Artist. After 9 years I ventured out into the freelance advertising world in NYC.
Whilst working in that god for saken industry my VR career started with BUTTS in 2014.
After seeing my little guys come alive and look right at me in VR, I was hooked.
I spent the next 5 years making creative VR projects with small and very talented teams. Exploring the new medium via music videos, animation, reactivity, and emotional response.

These projects are my babies and I love them. They won some awards and were featured at lots of festivals around the world, notably premiering at Tribeca and Sundance.
Since I became a father in 2018 I've been full time at Oculus, continuing my explorations and injecting some ridiculousness along the way.
