About

Tyler Hurd is a hands-on Creative Director who builds playful, character-led interactive experiences.

With a solid foundation in the video games and advertising worlds, over the last 12 years he has focused on VR/XR and expressive real-time characters, with an emphasis on embodiment, interaction design, presence, and emotional response.

He began making VR experiences in the early days of the medium with BUTTS (2014), and followed with music-driven and experiential projects including Old Friend, Chocolate, Chorus, and Beach Body Bros. These projects explored movement, embodiment, reactivity, and joy, and were recognized internationally, with festival selections including Tribeca and Sundance.

Most recently, he worked at Meta/Oculus Reality Labs as a Creative Director and hands-on prototyper, building VR prototypes from the ground up and collaborating across teams on public-facing experiences. Across everything he makes, he is interested in the same question: how do you make something feel alive and emotionally readable, while still keeping it a little weird in the best way.
